The Skiing

The skiing in Val Cenis can be described as excellent for most abilities. There are beautiful scenic runs above the tree line, and also the runs down through the trees are fabulous. Pistes to 2800m, two snow parks, and exceptional of off piste fun to be had. There is also one of the longest green runs in Europe, which descends for 10kms through forest. Advanced skiers who want a challenge should enjoy off piste opportunities all the way up to 3400m (a vertical drop of 4600ft back to the village).

Any negative points? If the snow is poor then the main run back to the village may take the surfaces off your skis (it turns into a bit of a  motorway and by afternoon the snow gets thin. Also, the main restaurant up on the slopes is situated on a fairly steep drop which would be difficult for beginners to ski to.

Après Ski

Val Cenis is divided into an upper and a lower village. Both have plenty of bars and restaraunts. I have to recommend my favourite, the Chalet Hotel Bar Nanook. The food is excellent (but book for large groups as this is a small family run establishment).

They have a webcam, which they have kindly given me permission to include on this page:

Access to The Three Valleys

There appears to be a (nearly) direct link to the 3 Valleys! (Well spotted Nick) It involves a short bus trip up the valley from the resort, then an express chair takes you directly to the Val Thorrens network.
